58Ninety and Due North become one
Digital agency 58Ninety has acquired Due North Communications, both Canadian independent agencies based in Toronto, creating a new integrated communications agency called one. In this move, senior leadership of both 58Ninety and Due North will join forces, bringing their experience to bear in fully satisfying increasingly complex client needs.
“We’ve created one. to be an evolved marketing agency with a deep understanding of the business of brand building as well as the technology required to do so in a multi-channel digital age: an agency where the brand truly gets digital and digital truly gets the brand,” says Ted Boyd, who co-founded 58Ninety in 2006 as CEO and moves into the role of CEO at one.
Over the past few years, Jill King (president) and Karen Howe (senior vice president, creative director) had been increasingly involved in the day to day management and leadership of the Due North business. Watching them succeed and thrive with their increased responsibilities, CEO Mark Weisbarth wanted to take Due North to the next level, creating even greater capabilities for the agency’s clients. “I was looking for a way to offer a larger critical mass for the future of the agency, and coming together with 58Ninety offers extraordinary potential, creatively and strategically,” says Weisbarth in a press release. He founded Due North in 1993.
“One. allows us to create on a much larger canvas,” says Karen Howe, who carries on as senior vice president, creative director of the new agency. “Our creative vision is to offer our clients enhanced firepower harnessed under one roof. We live and breathe an anti-silo mentality and we are truly media agnostic.”
King continues on as president of one.
