Illustrating Bodyguards! for fickle boy readers
Vancouver illustrator, designer and fine artist Scott Plumbe has done the cover and inside illustrations for Bodyguards!, a book published this summer for Annick Press, written by Ed Butts.
“Aimed at middle grade readers, especially boys who are notoriously fickle readers. Bodyguards! is a visually packed book on the long tradition of the profession — from gladiators to the Secret Service. This book includes over 100 illustrations, including several in graphic novel format,” explains Plumbe in an email. “I worked closely with the editorial team at Annick press to bring to life seven chapters worth of exciting stories from over 2000 years of bodyguard history and accurately representing the author’s vision. I resourced a vast amount of reference from different time periods and cultures while keeping up with a rigorous schedule of completion.”
