Entro | G+A captures diversity with flag colours

From Udo Schliemann, principal CD at Entro | G+A in Toronto:

The Regent Park Arts & Cultural Centre, now called Daniels Spectrum, is one of the most important building blocks in the revitalization of the Regent Park neighbourhood. Dedicated to experience, learning and innovation, the Centre will become the artistic, cultural and social core of the new neighbourhood. Located in Toronto’s East side, this 60,000 square foot, multi-tenant facility has three floors, including a large Performance/Event Space for arts organizations, youth-oriented arts programs and the Centre for Social Innovation.

Entro | G+A partnered with Artscape and Diamond Schmitt Architects to produce an integrated and innovative signage and donor recognition system. We designed the coloured bands on the exterior of the building to represent the flags of the many countries of origin of the community residents. These colours were also reflected within the interior environment. It was important to us to emphasize to new immigrants from around the world that this building is there for them to express their culture, art and music.
