David Fasullo is an art director and interactive designer from Toronto. An art director at Grey, David is also a winner in the 2010 Applied Arts Interactive Awards for his Tame the Bear art direction for Invesco Trimark. His client list includes websites, microsites and interactive pieces for Invesco Trimark, Porter Airlines, E-Trade, 7Up, Clairol, Lacoste among others from throughout his 12-year career. David’s also the creator of the innovative Livebrush online drawing application.
Quoted from the Livebrush website: “Livebrush is a drawing application. It employs an easy-to-use brush tool that reacts to your gesture. By combining simple motion controls with brush styles, Livebrush offers a fun and unique way to create graphics.” The app feature list includes customization of brush styles, decorations, control over speed, angle, width and other parameters. There’s a free version as well as a $10 paid version.
In an e-mail interview with Applied Arts, David went on to say that “the goal of moremeyou.com (in a previous incarnation) was to highlight relationship between the user and message. So half of the site was a fun and easy to use drawing tool. Then I invited users to contribute to the site design. Livebrush was born out of this idea. But the execution became far more than I originally planned. Fortunately I found many practical applications for motion-based drawing.”
“Since then, there’s been a great response and over 100 thousand downloads. Lifehacker and Adobe were very helpful in spreading the word. And we’ve also just started receiving Japanese, Italian and British magazine coverage.”
