Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA): Graphic Design/Visual Communication 

 

The Department of Design is a leader in design education in Canada. The York/Sheridan Program in Design is the first Bachelor of Design Honours Degree (B.Des Hons.) in Ontario and the York University Master of Design (M.Des.) program is Ontario's first graduate program in Design. Our undergraduate curriculum focuses on all aspects of graphic design, including visual communication design, information design, interactive multimedia and design studies. The Master's Program is dedicated to providing graduate students with opportunities to explore a wide range of approaches to contemporary design practice and research in design in support of innovation and experimentation. 

 

Applications are invited for a nine-month Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) at the Sessional Assistant Professor level in Graphic Design/Visual Communication (print oriented), with undergraduate teaching and administrative responsibilities, effective August 15, 2012, subject to final budgetary approval. The preferred applicant should have an active design practice and teaching experience. 

 

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses in three or more of the following areas: Design Fundamentals, Typography, Editorial Design, Book Design, Typeface Design, Communication Design, Package Design. In addition, this appointment requires participation in departmental governance, committee services, and curriculum development and growth.

 

Applicants are expected to have a master of design degree or a bachelor of design degree or other relevant design education.

and audio/video capabilities an asset.

Role Description

The Manager of Photography (Images) and Media Content position is targeted at individuals with a degree or diploma in photography and expertise in coordinating web content such as video blogs, social media, etc.


The Manager will have full access to Waddington’s resident experts and resources and will be part of an energetic team. Waddingtons.ca has an in-house, fully equipped digital photography studio located at its downtown Toronto facilities.

 

The ideal candidate for this position is creative, highly organized, a team player, has an interest and knowledge of business development and enjoys exploring new possibilities.

 

 

Major Responsibilities

Images:

Produce all images required for:

online auction catalogues

printed auction catalogues

marketing / promotional pieces

 

Media:

Co-ordinate and oversee the production of departmental web content

Co-ordinate company social media

Contribute to web marketing

Work with our creative / tech team to develop our online profile with innovative content and inter-activity.

Contribute to online business development

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in photography (with a focus on product photography)

Knowledge of post photographic skills

Some knowledge of online programs

An interest in learning more about our industry

An energy to inspire others

Some knowledge of the antique/collectables business (preferred but not essential)

 

Compensation

Compensation will include a base salary with performance related incentives, excellent benefits.
