Dentsu Creative Turns IKEA Products into National Flags
The "Assemble The World" campaign turns everyday IKEA products into shoppable symbols of national pride.
June 30, 2026
Dentsu Creative has built a reputation for finding unexpected ways to connect brands with culture. Its latest collaboration with IKEA Canada, Assemble The World, transforms everyday household products into playful expressions of national pride.
As international sporting rivalries capture the world's attention, IKEA Canada and Dentsu Creative have found an unexpected way to celebrate the global spirit of competition—by transforming everyday IKEA products into a series of playful national flags.
Launched as Assemble The World, the social-first creative-commerce campaign reimagines familiar IKEA furniture, accessories and home décor items as 12 recognizable country flags. Designed to be shoppable, shareable and instantly engaging, the work invites audiences to look twice, identify the products hidden within each design, and even recreate the flags themselves.

The Canadian flag features a Vagsjön hand towel as its maple leaf, framed by a Baggmuck shoe tray and Backmara bathmat. Elsewhere, Morocco is assembled from bamboo house plants and a sofa cover, while Sweden emerges from duster covers and outdoor cabinetry.
The brilliance of the campaign lies in its simplicity. At first glance, viewers see a flag. A closer look reveals a collection of cleverly arranged products. The work taps into the satisfaction of discovery while seamlessly integrating commerce, allowing consumers to click through and purchase the individual items used to build each design.

"Our country's so diverse and nothing brings out that spirit more than a huge international tournament. We wanted to give our customers a special way to express their fandom and pride for home, whatever that means to them or wherever they come from.
Jacqueline Wark, Marketing Communications Manager at IKEA Canada.
Building on IKEA's long-running "Bring Home to Life" platform, the campaign celebrates the many cultures and communities that make up modern Canada. By using household products to create national emblems, Assemble The World offers a playful reminder that home can mean many different things—and that identity can be expressed in unexpected ways.

"Assemble The World transforms household products into celebratory symbols of Canadians' diverse backgrounds at a time when playful national rivalries are reaching a fever pitch. You can shop it, share it, sit in it, or just print it and tape it to your car window."
Scott Tavener, Executive Creative Director at Dentsu Creative
Running across social media, owned channels and out-of-home placements near IKEA stores from June 11 through July 19, Assemble The World demonstrates how creativity, culture and commerce can converge in a single idea. Equal parts design exercise and retail experience, the campaign shows how even the most familiar products can tell a bigger story.
