Designers Deal a Hand for Homelessness This Christmas

London-based design agency Red Dot Studio has rallied a remarkable line-up of leading creatives to co-create a limited-edition deck of Christmas-themed playing cards. The project shines a spotlight on the spirit of giving, with all proceeds supporting Crisis at Christmas, an annual campaign offering warmth, companionship, and essential services to people experiencing homelessness.

Celebrating both creativity and compassion, 54 artists, illustrators, designers, and typographers, including renowned names such as Jean Jullien, Anthony Burrill, Neville Brody and Koto Studio, were invited to reinterpret the iconic playing card. Each contributor worked within a simple brief: create a festive design using only black and red, resulting in an eclectic, bold and expressive collection. The finished set, aptly titled Christmas Cards, celebrates a breadth of typographic explorations to character-driven illustrations, each card reflecting the distinctive style of its creator.

Partners Identity Print and Fedrigoni produced the deck to a premium finish on Fedrigoni’s just released ‘Playing Card’ stock. As part of their commitment to the initiative, Red Dot Studio and all creative contributors are donating to Crisis for every card created. All profits from the sale of the decks will go directly to Crisis, helping fund year-round support for individuals facing homelessness.

This project is a testament to the generosity and spirit of the design community. Bringing together so many talented creatives for a collective cause has been incredibly energising. Each card feels like a gift in its own right, and we’re proud that the proceeds will help Crisis continue its vital work at Christmas and beyond.
