FU** THE CBC

A play on words created a catchy ad campaign for Friends of Canadian Media by East Coast ad agency Wunder. The goal was to deliver a standout campaign to save the CBC and that they did! 


Whether or not Canadians should continue to fund the CBC has been a pretty divisive issue. Especially for the months we've had to endure Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre using his platform to call to defund our national public broadcaster and rally his supporters who have even less savoury words to say about the CBC.

So, with a federal election on the horizon and the future of the CBC hanging in the balance, Friends of Canadian Media needed a standout campaign to save the CBC. With the realization that the rally cry for those who want to fund public broadcasting and those who want to fu** it is only separated by 2 letters, we created a campaign to surely turn the heads of people on both sides of the conversation.

 

"For months, we've had to endure Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre's cynical calls to defund our national public broadcaster. We want to support funding for CBC/Radio Canada, so we've created a bold campaign that pokes fun at political ads and encourages voters to choose a party that will defend CBC/Radio-Canada, not defund it."

The campaign is rolling out across the country in TV, Radio, Out of Home, Social, Digital Display and Ambient placements.
