Promising work from emerging artists
July 4, 2025

Ash Phillips, 2025 Applied Arts Student Awards judge and Co-Founder and Creative Director at Six Cinquième, Montreal, QC, said of selecting this year's winning entries, "I was looking for work that made me think, 'I'd hire them' or 'A student did this? No way!'"
Fellow juror Chenice Piercy, Freelance Art Director, said of what made a winning entry, "The entries that rose to the top as winners for me were those that found a way to put a fresh spin on powerful narratives."
The Student Awards are an international competition. This year's competition resulted in 167 winning entries, spanning seven countries across four continents. All entrants are currently enrolled in or have completed a creative program, such as creative advertising, graphic design, interactive design, illustration, animation, motion graphics, or photography.
How were the winners selected? The judges were divided into groups, each judging a different and random group of entries separately and without discussion. Each entry is given one total score based on creative merit, technical excellence and suitability for end use in the category it was submitted to. Entries that exceeded the pre-determined cut-off score were selected for inclusion in the Advertising & Student Awards Annual.
Soon, you will have the opportunity to view this work, whether through our online Winners Gallery or our Winter Advertising & Student Awards Annual. Subscribers and winners can expect to receive their issue in early July. Not a subscriber? Subscribe for as little as $4 per month* on or before October 31 to have the issue delivered to your post box. Stay tuned here for release news!
2025 Student Awards winner Louis A. Yau, Capilano University IDEA School of Design's 2024 Student Awards winning entry.
"There was a huge amount of care and thought put into the work, which gives me great faith in this next crop of creatives."
