Turning the table on Gerardo Agbuya

2025 Applied Arts Photography & Illustration judge Gerardo Agbuya, Creative Director, Courage, Toronto, ON, shares one of the 2024 campaigns he and his partner Jesse Wilks worked on KFCCourage took a massive leap from 20th place in 2024 to 3rd  on the 2025 Strategy Report Card—with creatives like this duo, makes senses! Ingenious concept! check it out below.

Recently, my creative partner Jesse Wilks and I released a project for KFC called “KF-CLOCK: A Bolo Tie That Tells Time”. And it was based on creating a clock out of Colonel Sanders iconic bolo tie to let customers know the new later closing times of their local KFC. It was a really simple idea, and able to be repeated over and over for each different location and their different closing times. The project transcended language barriers and some locations around the world started using it, which was really exciting to see. And since KFC is one of the most consistent brands in the world, it was rewarding to bring a sense of cohesion and creativity to this overlooked brand touch point…how stores display their hours.
