Yokozuna is a study on Japanese immigration in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The contrast between two such different cultures was the inspiration for creating this piece. It celebrates immigration, tradition, and the fresh colours of Brazil. Besides the distance between the two countries, Brazil has a huge tradition in Sumo, one of the biggest inspirations in my work is how immigration can transform society, creating a powerful expression of culture.
