A surreal look at insects trapped in 44 million-year-old Baltic amber. The insects photographed here range in size from 2mm to 4mm in length. To compensate for the incredibly shallow depth of field inherent at these magnifications, specialized equipment was used to create up to 100 focus slices, with the camera moving only 14 microns between frames.
