I had tulips at home and noticed how beautiful they looked as they wilted, in their slow, natural collapse. I knew I wanted to recreate the visual and decided on soft pink tones for their quiet, melancholic effect. As tulips wilt, they droop as if something heavy is pulling them down, so I covered the flowers in paint to embody that weight and stillness. The contrast of the green stems brings brightness to the image, reminding of something once vibrant, now softened by time and decay.
