Minion is an old-style serif typeface designed by Robert Slimbach for Adobe Originals in 1992. The typeface is inspired by the humanist calligraphy of the Renaissance, and it often appears in instructional guides and passages of extended reading. To complement Minion's inspiration and usage, the visual language of the book reflects the utilitarian aesthetic. Passages from Niccolò Machiavelli’s The Prince, a Renaissance-era instructional manifesto for new royalty, are used to dissect the type.
