Inspired by Dutch Golden Age still-life painting and portraiture, I decided to create my own satirical take on the subject. A toy rabbit, a water bottle filled with vegetables and a pink background evidently replace traditional Dutch hunting spoils, floral vases and black backgrounds. The final touches were the obviously abnormal facial features of my model's face. This piece was made with the intention to ask a simple question—is there one right way to interpret history?
