Sprawled Self

High School Illustration - Series

The octopus is a very vulnerable creature however, it is a formidable predator. Each of its eight legs consists of a branch of the neural system, providing the head with exceptional deduction skills. It is almost impossible to chain it down or trap it. When given a chance, it will eventually free itself from its binds. The octopus symbolizes the ungraspable parts of self, often changing and reinventing itself. The drawing ‘Sprawled Self’ depicts the artist looking at the octopus escaping her grip.
