Underline designed an issue of Wayward Arts celebrating Canada 150. We used the opportunity to interrogate the country’s relationship with Indigenous people. It appears to be a tribute to Canada’s landscapes. However, perforated lines on each spread invite the reader deeper. Once the pages are torn, a poem challenges Canadians’ presumption to ownership of the land. The poetry is paired with facts that challenge the reader to reckon with the hidden history of Canada.
