During a summer study trip I found that New Yorkers have the ability to weather events that would humble and bring other cities to a standstill. A block away from a shooting that occurred below our meeting place in the Empire State Building, people were carrying on about their day as if nothing occurred at all. This culture of resilience and taking things in stride was so impressive I was inspired to produced this work.
