Sixty-seven swimming kickboards were placed in rows, upright in the sand of English Bay beach, Vancouver to create a graveyard. Each gravestone commemorated one of the 67 people that drowned in BC the previous year. The words printed on the kickboards prompted people to ‘Learn how to swim. Swim to survive’, and directed them to lifesaving.ca to find out where to get lessons. The installation cost just $904 and resulted in over 700,0000 media impressions.
