COMBINE conceptually designed and developed the Alberta College of Art + Design 2005 recruitment material with the intent to provide students with access to only the information relevant to their interests. Hence the title - also developed by COMBINE - WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?". This contrasts other admissions catalogues that can overwhelm the reader with too much information at one time. As the title signifies each piece was designed to involve some form of interaction with the prospective student. For example, the main catalogue incorporates perforated french folded - or what COMBINE affectionately refers to as "prairie folded" pages. At first glance the reader is treated to full spreads of M.N. Hutchinson's experimental panoramic photographs of the ACAD faculty, students, alumni and facilities. The reader is instructed to break open the perfed "prairie folded" page to access textual content pertaining to particular course or admissions information. Other forms of interactivity included integrated pulltabs and complex folded poster and mini view designs. This was complimented with a sophisticated Flash website design."
