BABYFIRST is a joint-venture retail store selling high-end childcare products in China. The brief stated the need to convey ‘foreign’ but sensitive to local cultures. The Chinese government encourages single-child families hence the single baby communicating preciousness. Chinese traditionally swaddle a newborn in red. The pacifier communicates well-being and ‘foreign’.
