This was a very prescient cover for us, coming as it did just a month before the Big Blackout of 2003. Writer Peter Gorrie and graphic designer Catherine Farley presented a comprehensive portrait of Ontario and Quebec's power consumption and the difference between the operations of the provinces' hydroelectric companies. Photographer Richard Lautens took the simple cover shot -- plugs representing Hydro Quebec (blue) and Ontario Hydro (orange). It effectively showed the disconnect between the provinces when it comes to powering up.
