From a series of illustrations about 9/11/01. "Umbilicus Rex" shows the horror of the event itself - the loss of life and the loss of some people's naive view of the world and their "mother" country. "Paroxysm" illustrates the reflex-like reaction to the event manifested in rampant patriotism and/or nationaism.
