The poster features the defining elements in the form of a periodic chart. Ancient life was ruled by the elements: air, iron, fire and rainfall determine the fates of individuals and civilizations. The elements that govern our lives today--science, media, politics, technology--are highlighted in this chart. The small wooden chair featured in the photograph was designated by Time Magazine as "the most influential design element of the 20th century".
