This book was based on the exploration of vernacular type and imagery found in the Toronto neighborhood known as Little Jamaica. The investigation was inspired by a passage from Italo Calvino's book Invisible Cities in which Marco Polo attempts to narrate his travels to distant lands using the emblems and gestures he acquired along the way.
