It is with great excitement that we announce the opening of the 2019 Design Awards call for entries!

The Applied Arts Awards are the only competitions in Canada that recognize the creative work of professionals across the visual communications sector, from image-makers to advertising executives to designers. These Awards are your best opportunity to promote your work to an audience of the best and brightest of the industry as well as to potential clients. Over the past 25 years, the Applied Arts Awards have become an international recognition of creative excellence.

More specifically, the Design Awards are a collection of international competitions that are open to all disciplines of design work including but not limited to: typography and packaging, web and app development and print and environmental applications. The full list of categories is available in the Design Awards Category Kit located on our website.

NEW WEBSITE – EASE OF ENTRY & INCREASED EXPOSURE FOR WINNERS

Design Award entrants will be the first to enjoy the benefits of our new, user-friendly website – same address, new look, new experience!  We listened to your feedback and have designed a new step-by-step system to make entering the awards easier and more time efficient, as well as increasing exposure for winners, both on- and offline.

The new Awards management system is easy to use and hosts new features that allow entrants to pause and resume entries, make payments immediately or at a later date, enter credits only once (stockpiling them for use again and again), easily prioritize credit roles for print and web as well as allowing for multiple file formats and digital high res. images (you can even upload your mp3/mp4 files).

Additionally, the new website features a new and improved interactive Winner’s Gallery, showcasing bigger, bolder winning images that are searchable by year, discipline, category and/or keyword(s) so you can see who won what in a specific year, or what awards a specific company or client has earned.  Additionally, winners can now instantly share their winning work across all their social media platforms.

NEW! EARLY BIRD DEADLINES

Early Bird deadlines have been introduced to all 2019 Awards. Early Bird pricing saves you $10 off each entry you submit. The Early Bird deadline for the Design Awards is March 8, 2019. Take advantage of these savings and you could splurge on a team lunch with all your extra money! Regular pricing comes into effect as of March 9th. The final closing date for Design Awards submissions is March 15, 2019.

 STREAMLINING THE AWARDS

The Community Awards were launched in 2017 to help smaller Canadian studios and artists get the recognition they deserve without having to compete directly with big-budget projects by large studios and agencies. To further this goal in 2019, Community categories have been rolled into each specific Awards program, allowing entries to be viewed amongst their peers and within an analogous creative landscape. Now each category can showcase its own local talent. Remember, Community categories are only open to work done by and for Canadians.

2019 will be a year of growth and change at Applied Arts and we are excited to take you with us on this journey.  So, gather your best work from 2018 and head over to the Applied Arts website to start your Design entries. We look forward to viewing your exceptional work and showcasing your winning entries. Best of luck to all entrants!
