Vancouver-based creative agency Pendo was tasked with updating the brand identity of one of Vancouver’s most desirable neighbourhoods, Cambie Village, and the results are striking.

Neighbourhoods act as a nexus for more than just city streets. They are the places where communities are formed through the intersections of residents and businesses. Providing a brand identity that captures the history and distinct flavour of a historic hood takes a considerable amount of careful thought and community consultation, which Pendo undertook by interviewing and gathering insights from local business owners.

Drawing upon what they heard from the community and the Art Deco buildings and installations they observed throughout the neighbourhood, Pendo produced a bold and modular design that incorporates simple shapes and vibrant colours inspired by Art Deco, but unique to the community it represents.

The branding work, which can be seen throughout Cambie Village’s rotating street banners, event branding, ads, promotional materials and merchandise, has an iconic feel that was well received by the Cambie Village Business Association and its over 400 business and commercial property owners:

“Our goal in seeking a rebrand was to put Cambie Village on the map and to bring awareness to Greater Vancouver about who and what Cambie Village is about. The new brand has been received with excitement and pride! It feels like a huge relief that we have a visible brand that completely reflects the vibrancy of the area.” - Caroline Boquist, BA Member and Business Owner
