Golf Podcast Helps You Avoid Rough…Sleep

We imagine many Canadians dream about golf. Probably most often between those post-lunch and pre-five o’clock hours on a Monday when the weekend’s game is still fresh in the memory like recently cut grass. While bogeying hole after hole can induce club-bending frustration, golf as a whole is an inherently relaxing pursuit; a nice walk through manicured lawns that just happens to have a game as well.

Golf Town and Toronto-based Union have utilized golf’s soporific sounds to create “Sleep Well. Golf Better” a golf-inspired meditative sleep podcast (found on Spotify, Apple Music and Google Podcasts) to help you get deeper, more restful sleep and maybe even a better drive off the tee.

Inspired by “sleep hypnosis” and meditation videos and tapes that help your brain relax and drift off to Dreamland, but this version of Nod has excellent fairways. Listeners are taken on a 40-minute guided, golf adventure with the bedtime lullaby being replaced by the dulcet tones of your very own golf announcer. Soothing.

“The game of golf has many benefits and is a great outdoor activity for dealing with stress and anxiety. We designed our sleep podcast to be calming and relaxing, knowing how important mindfulness and wellness is to every-day life,” says Golf Town Chief Market Officer, Frederick Lecoq.

The podcast highlights the stress reducing aspects of the game of golf, as well as the health benefits garnered from a restful sleep. Putting putters in a restful headspace before bed and helping them wake up that way too.

“It’s well-known that golf is a relaxing sport,” says Lance Martin, CCO of UNION. “When we realized how much of that can be attributed to the sounds of the game, we knew we could do something interesting in the audio space.” He adds, “Whether you’re an experienced golfer or only played a couple of times we want listeners to picture themselves playing great golf and wake up confident they can achieve their goals—in life, and on the course.”

The creative was led by UNION in partnership with Golf Town. Audio production was handled by TA2 Sound + Music.
