Lip syncs, sounds, dances, and more will now be getting a little maple flavour as Toronto-based Zulubot, the creative content and digital innovation studio from creative agency Zulu Alpha Kilo, has partnered with Snap, the patent company of Snapchat to develop augemented reality experiences specifically for Canadian audiences.

This is the first time Snap has partnered with a Canadian AR producer, which is significant as Snapchat reaches nearly 10 million people in Canada and AR technology is in high demand. With more than 200 million Snapchatters engaging with augmented reality every day on the app, the ability to have AR offerings specific to the Canadian market is a must.

Here’s what the primaries behind the partnership had to say:

“As we continue to grow the AR ecosystem here in Canada we are nothing but excited about this new partnership with Zulubot. The agency has long been known for its boundary-pushing creative work and their digital-first mindset, which makes them the perfect partner to take Snap’s innovative augmented reality technology to the next level,” said Matt McGowan, GM of Snap in Canada. “This partnership will not only help us meet increased demand for AR content on Snapchat, it will also help us continue to tailor these experiences for Canadians, which will benefit the nearly 10 million Snapchatters in Canada.”

“Zulubot was originally founded as our content studio to service our existing clients. Since 2014, it has rapidly evolved into a bustling Creative Production Playground, servicing its own clients directly. We couldn’t be prouder of the partnership with Snapchat. Our team is excited to help redefine what creativity looks like on the platform.” — Zak Mroueh, CCO & Founder of Zulu Alpha Kilo

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Snapchat as a partner. Together we will help Canadian companies push the boundaries of platform innovation, creating first-to-market content that reaches audiences in more authentic and meaningful ways. It’s all part of our ongoing commitment to invest in new, innovative tech. AR is here to stay and the creative possibilities that the Snap platform offers continues to excite and inspire us all.” — Tom Evans, Managing Director, Zulubot
