The Life and Work of W.A. Dwiggins on Mar. 20

Design history buffs—if Dwiggins delights you, Bruce Kennett is giving a free talk on the prolific artist and designer at The Arts & Letters Club in Toronto on Tuesday, March 20.

Kennett, a designer himself, recently published a biography called W.A. Dwiggins: A Life in Design (pictured below), which chronicles Dwiggins's forays into calligraphy, type, graphic design, playwriting and puppeteering. Dwiggins, who passed away in 1956 at age 76, is perhaps best known for his book typefaces Caledonia and Electra, and his Futura-inspired typeface called Metro.

W.A. Dwiggins: A Life in Design ($95) is available via its publisher, Letterform Archive, and contains more than 1,200 illustrations across nearly 500 pages.
