Virginia Wolf’s joy in killing the Angel in the House and fear for more obstacles to overcome in her speech "Professions for Women" resonated strongly with me. While the killing of the angel, an ideal feminine artist in my case, is a task that is achievable, the task of rebuilding one’s language independently in the absence of an angel is often more daunting. The making of wings is a step towards freedom, but it is not certain if one will emerge as Icarus or Dedalus.
