Public art and monuments have a powerful influence in shaping cultural perceptions. After learning only 2% of statues worldwide honour women, the YWCA set out to address this problem in a way that didn’t just honour one woman in history, but instead gave every woman a platform and a voice. Our goal was to use this shocking statistic as a way to spark conversation, lift women up, and push for permanent change and equality in gender representation of public art and monuments.
