Smart culture originated in China in 2008 during rapid economic development, when rural kids migrated to cities for work. These kids used exaggerated hairstyles for self-expression but were met with prejudice. Tianxin depicts the cultural behaviour and harsh realities Smart youth face, aiming to rebuild their community through digital illustrations. She highlights the significance of hair to their identity and hopes to regain respect and social acceptance.
