The Truth and Reconciliation Commission's call to action #18 demands that all Indigenous peoples receive healthcare free of discrimination and that the residential school's legacy be recognized as fatally affecting Indigenous peoples' health. By first identifying the medical microaggressions that Indigenous patients, medical professionals, and students face in the healthcare system and medical schools, can we then unlearn and be accountable for the violence we cause as a reconciliatory practice.
