Announcing the 2022 Advertising Awards Winners
Exercise in Brilliance!
October 6, 2022
What do Stand Up Comedy and Advertising have in common? Quick brilliant one-liners that immediately resonate with our lived and living experiences of the world around us. When it comes to advertising these one-line zingers stay with us, think “wassup!?!???” the 1999 Budweiser commercial, from DDB Worldwide Chicago, to this day it is still very much a generational giggle starter! Or the 1975 Alka Seltzer “Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz oh what a relief it is” campaign, from Jack Tinkers & Partners’ created by notorious Mary Wells, it seems that the jingle is still very much a part of a matured generation’s lexicon.
And brilliance was definitely at the table of the 2022 Applied Arts Advertising Awards! As Stephen Flynn, one of our 2022 Advertising Awards judges, comments: “When you’ve been doing this for over 10 years, sometimes you can get stuck on a brief and feel like every approach has been done. But then you judge a show like this and it reignites that spark of finding brilliant new ways to solve problems with creativity.”
The Winning work will be published in the Winter issue of Applied Arts alongside the 2022 Students Awards winners. Copies of the Annual can be pre-ordered for $15.00 plus shipping or picked up at select local newsstands early 2023.
A HUGE thank you to our 2022 Advertising Awards judges for sharing your expert eye and mastery to this year’s competition!!!
Our gratitude also goes out to our award sponsors VISTEK; our association partners CAPIC, Design Professionals of Canada and RGD; and our print and paper partner Mi5 Print & Digital Communications for their support.
