The Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) released the 2022/2023 results of Creative Earners, Canada’s comprehensive salary survey for creatives. The report raises awareness of the country’s communication design industry and provides an economic profile of the field. 

This year’s Creative Earners report utilizes responses from over 3,300 professionals to provide a detailed look at salaries for more than 30 job titles, and other industry insights.

A few salary findings:
  • The average salary for a Creative/Design Director is $129,970 (median: $115,000)
  • The average salary for a Senior Graphic Designer is $74,620 (median: $70,000)
  • The average salary for a Graphic Designer is $67,270 (median: $65,000)
Other key findings:
  • 88% believe that employers should be required, by law, to include salary details in job postings (+5% from the 2021/2022 report).
  • Remote and hybrid work are here to stay: only 11% of business owners report that their staff work in-office full-time, along with 12% of in-house designers and 12% of agency employees.
