Our Judges: Pendo’s Peter Ladd

Our salute to Applied Arts Awards judges continues. Say hello to Peter Ladd, Creative Director & Co-Founder of Vancouver’s Pendo.

Humber College graduate Peter Ladd launched Pendo in 2015.  Since then, the company has taken on projects covering strategy, naming, identity, print materials,  environmental graphics, websites and video.  Here’s a personal walkthrough from Ladd of what Pendo has been up to recently.

Hunter Gather

In building the brand for a Whistler-based eatery and taphouse, we looked to local culture and surrounding nature for inspiration. “Hunter Gather” is a down-to-earth place that brings people together to share stories and enjoy house-smoked meats alongside local craft beer. Illustrations of the area’s resident wildlife were incorporated across the brand as an expression of the hunting and gathering theme.

Fraud Force

Online fraud is advancing at a lightning pace with billions of dollars lost annually. That’s why thought leaders in online security and risk come together yearly to connect and collaborate at “Fraud Force”. This internationally-respected summit is organized and hosted by iovation, the fraud prevention network which secures millions of online transactions every day. We developed the theme “Fast Forward” to create a heightened sense of urgency and to reinforce the notion that the industry needs to move faster.

MIABC

A growing number of municipalities depend on the Municipal Insurance Association of British Columbia to provide liability protection for amenities such as recreation centres, libraries and parks. Why? The MIABC offers advantages that no single local government can obtain on its own. Our ground-up brand refresh included a new identity, featuring a tree icon that represents the thriving communities the MIABC serves. Graphic representations of the brand were applied using interior and exterior signage installations throughout their new head office space. This project was undertaken in collaboration with BB&Co Strategic Storytelling.
