Two Crowns

Working on their first job together, Jamie Lawson and Jacqui Oakley, a Hamilton, Ont., designer/illustrator team, created the sleeve art for Two Crown King, an independent band. The married couple brings together graphic design (Lawson) and illustration (Oakley) skills. Says Oakley, “The Two Crown King crew were kind enough to give me full reign on this and the concept. I thought a lion suited their name and their type of music well and I am so pleased with the final result. Jamie took my illustration and really brought the whole package to the next level. He was even kind enough to cut out that pesky lion head for the silhouettes in the design and the T-shirt. It came out last week as a CD and even vinyl.”

Adds Lawson, who did the work through his studio poly: “This is the first time we’ve collaborated on a commercial project and we’re super-excited about the results. We’d love an opportunity to spread the word and show more projects that integrate design, illustration and the arts together.”
